Parco Cave is a Blue Heart In The City
CAUTO is coordinating the new “Parco Diffuso delle Cave” *Distributed Park of the Quarries) project funded by Fondazione Cariplo in the framework of the 2017 Resilience call.
The “Parco delle Cave” (Quarry Park) now represents a great opportunity for the citizens and inhabitants of Brescia, and in particular the districts of San Polo, Sanpolino, Buffalora and S. Eufemia, to experience their local area with a new and active approach, after years of industrial exploitation.
The common vision to revive and redevelop the area, and the campaign carried out over the years against the possibility of turning the basins into landfills by the various municipal administrations, local associations, environmentalists and sports, citizens and neighbourhood councils, has united and generated affection for the area that now has the real possibility and the "right papers" to be reborn and transformed into a NATURAL PARK. Hence the idea of CAUTO together with a network of 20 associations and institutions, to present and obtain the contribution from Fondazione Cariplo within the Resilience 2017 call.
It is not a project aimed at the Community but realised with the Community, with the citizens and the people who put their hearts into the quarry basins.
The primary aim is to bring citizens into the park immediately, to experience it and get to know it as a place that generates relations and connections between people, places, parts of the city and the local area. The park can become a system of participation, cooperation and commitment of citizens for a reciprocal and beneficial exchange in the relationship between Humans and Nature.
There are three phases: NETWORKING, MAKING THE PARK USABLE, OFFERING OPPORTUNITIES FOR LIVEABILITY AND RELATIONS BETWEEN CITIZENS
